Favourite songs - Top 5 hits

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In this episode, you, the listeners, picked my top 5 Favourite Songs. I admit it's not the greatest episode but don't worry. A make up show is on the horizon.

Ah, it's about that, boys and girls, and you are listening to tensions with Tilby. How's it going, everybody? Welcome for another episode of Tangents with Toby. This week again, I let you, the listeners, decide what topic you want me to talk about. We had two different poles, or one pole, two different subjects. First one was a daily mail news which you know I love doing just because of all the dumb headlines out there. And number two top five favorite songs. And with the eighty three percent of the votes, it's amazing why the winner is the top five favorite...

...songs. Eighty three percent. That's pretty damn good if you ask me, but you didn't ask what I do said anyways. All right, so I didn't think it was going to be this big lit a landslide. So I was prepared, but yet I wasn't, if that makes sense, any sense. So I decided, you know, just to get the songs going and I thought it's myself, all right, what makes this song one my favorites? And Holy Crap, it was really hard to pick five and I don't think I even came close to the original top five. Dad should be, I know, number one. There's it should be on there for sure,...

...and it's slam bionics and you're thinking of yourself. Why? It's simple. Back in the early S, no, early S, I'm stuff. was trying to figure out who I was. You know, I was starting to become a teenager. Let's see, I'm score for yeah, I was starting to become a teenager and I wanted my own density. and Lo and behold, my friends have found onyx. Listen to it, didn't like it. It was horrible. Until I had a mixtape from a local radio store and it was basically for them to give to the radio store to decide do you want to bring the CD and off in? You know, it's fair.

I listen to it a lot of songs that didn't like, but once it got to Onyx, I fell in love. Not sure why, you just fell in love. The beat that onyx has. It was great. It's catchy, makes you want to jump up and down. It's just iconic song from the early S and I've always listened to it. Even my family got into it. One day. was playing in the van and everybody yet kept yelling slam. To me, that means a lot, and onyx number one. Overall. You are going to be my top pick just in general. Playing the simple all right. Next on my list CHUMBAWEMBA'S TUB thumping. They're...

...when I list songs, there has to be a reason, a meaning, the time, a situation that it takes me back to a certain period in time in your life, and this one I can still clear it, nor remember it. Claire's Day. Buddy and I were invite it to go to Regina, which, if you listen a little bit sporting show, you probably heard the one episode of the bad trip to Regina. It's still up, so go check it out anyway. It it just clued in on something anyway. So we went up to Regina, we had fun. We went to...

Burger King before he came out because mine little town didn't have it. So the guy in the back and I we are yelling at the top of our Lam the actual song. We pull up my buddy, he just start ordering. Lady Goes, Canny, turned down your music, and he goes, Yep, that's not a problem, turns it down. Meanwhile the guy in the back and I were just still belting out Chumbawamba and lady goes, you gotta Turn Down Your Music. So Dale goes that's not music. Just one second, turns around, looks at us and say shot the F up. Both Carmen and I would just kind of didn't say too much. So as he was ordering, you know, Carmen and I looked at each other and...

...started we get knocked down, we get back up again and we just started picking up louder and louder and louder. So Dale cut his order short because we were getting to that point. We pull up to the drive their window lady looks at him. Dale looks at her and says that's what I got to deal with. So every time when I hear that Song I think a Dale and I think of that period of time at Burger King. Those are the reasons why top fives are awesome. Next up, Len, if you steal my sunshine, this was a huge jam in the s. It was a summer. It was a feel good song, like even if you watch...

...the video, it was nice. It was them on holiday, blue skies, ocean, palm trees, airports. It was a goofy song. Woman and I. The fondest memory of it was we're coming back from Regina. Were on the highway in his grand damn after a motocross race. I want to think a girl by the name of Lisa was in the back. She was freaking because, Wyman, he kept going. He was doing like what, a hundred eighty, and the car was tagged out, like the governor was kicked on swerve it in and out of traffic. Then song comes on. We're like, Oh my God, and of course again we just started belting out him, singing the males arts messing in the female ends that song.

That time, that speed will be burnt again in my head. That's the reason why it is a part of the top five. The memory that song has made and created. That's the same thing. Damn, it is unbelievable. The good times, the great times, almost trumble WOMBA. All right. Now it's starting to get a little harder because once you get to like the top three songs, okay, these are the ones that have made a mark, are a part of history, a part of your life, part of memories. But now it's to the part where you're trying to figure...

...out, okay, what's next? The top three it's usually clean cut, but after that's when you have so many songs trying to get into number one, two and three. That there's a huge backlog and you don't know what is going on. All right, so there's so many songs out there, and the biggest problem is now I'm to the point of my life I'm actually discovering songs that I never discovered back in the day, like, for example, free by power man five thousand I. of course, you heard the two power man songs, one world's Clyde and the other one let's clyide.

I can't remember what the other one was anyway. So free it's kind of like one of those not crap. They were trying to send a message out to people, and that's what it's me basic messages are going to be that sometimes you can't be who you want to be. Everybody else is the ones that create the image, how you dress, how you act, how you sound, and it's just the beats catchy. I like it for that particular reason, like it gets my head going interesting, Oh shit. So it's...

...number four on my list. Just super catchy. And finally, the last one on my list is Hanson Mumba. I am really not sure why I'm like obsessed with the song. It's got to be one of the most horrible songs you can listen to what the one thing I do have to say, it's the chorus of the song itself has to be one of the top parts of it. Like it's it's catchy, it's an ear room. It gets stuck in your head for days and days, and when you say hands and Bob Everybody knows. Hell, if you see Hanson, you're either thinking of...

...the band or the hockey players, and most people my generation non hockey, you're going to think Hanson, the brothers with the band. So yeah, that is about it. You guys. Those were my top five picks. Not a great show, but you know, it is what it is. You should go check some of that out. I might do another one in the future, a little bit more in depth, with actual sound clips things like that, but at the moment, Jesus, Crakys U Dan, I want that up my nose. Yeah, I got I absolutely forgot what I was going to say, but if you have any questions comments, if you...

...have a top five yourself, please make sure you email me at tangents with toby at gmailcom. Also follow me on twitter, Tangents Toby, facebook at tangents with toby. Let's let's make something happen. But in the meantime, you guys, hopefully your day is well. Enjoy everything, and next week I think I'm going to be getting a little bit better on track everything like that. But we do have a new segment. It's not new to me, it's an old school but to you guys, the listeners for Tangents, it's going to be kind of new. Question called you could. I am having such a hard time today, Dang it, man. You basically call in, you will leave a message, your name, who you're associated with...

...if you wanted to leave a question, and I'll answer it on are. So the number that you need a call is one two hundred and forty nine, one zero seven four four. That is one two hundred and forty nine, seven zero, one zero seven four four, and just remember, long distance charges will apply. So hopefully guys call in, give me something to talk about, an answer and let's make next week's episode one of the biggest in tangents history. Until you get another big one. Anyway, thanks for listening, guys, and I will see you next week with the brand new show only here on ten Ingrans with Toby.
